Default Booth

Hey, folks,

Up today, at Booth, my "Sovereignty," which is not really about being pursued by hornets, having to strip naked and jump in the river to escape! This gives me particular joy, since it's published by Ed Shacklee's alma mater! The poem was workshopped on the Deep End, so thanks to all who critiqued and commented.

Kate just asked me, "If it's not about escaping hornets, what's it about?" "It's about you, dear. You were crabbing at me about something..." Like the song says, "Love is the unfamiliar name / behind the hand that wove / the intolerable shirt of flame..."

Thanks,

Bill

(Yes, Janice, I miss Ed, too!)

Best,
Jean

Loved it, Bill. Great poem. Such fabulous botanical detail. And the hornets are really scary!
