Default Jennifer Reeser's Sonnets from the Dark Lady available

Jennifer Reeser's superb collection, Sonnets from the Dark Lady and Other Poems, is now available in book form or as a Kindle download. I can't recommend this volume highly enough: first rate craft, elegance, complexity and range make it one of the most rewarding collections I've seen. And I was lucky enough to publish a few of the poems in The Flea, The Chimaera and Shit Creek Review!

Paperback here:

... or via Jennifer's website at

If you would like Jennifer to mail an inscribed copy of the book, send a private message, or get in touch with her through the "Contact" page on her website.

Let me add that you can "borrow" it for free if you are an Amazon Prime member. Though if you're not, it's a bargain at just $6 on the Kindle.

For anyone who'd like to sample a few, here are some of Jennifer's lovely Dark Lady sonnets in Mezzo Cammin. Enjoy, and consider: wouldn't it be nice to have the rest of this fine sequence between two covers (or other acceptable format, print, electronic, etc.?...

Thanks for the word, Paul. The New Orleans poems are a big draw for me as well as the Shakespeare poems...I'll definitely want this one.

I just bought the Kindle edition, which I look forward to reading. The Kindle formatting, unfortunately, doesn't look so great, but I know the content will make up for it.

Kindle does that to all of the poetry books I have on it -- even the Penguin books such as Housman and Keats, or Faber. But on the other hand Kindle DOES yield instant gratification. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to finding my signed paperback Dark Lady in the postbox as well.

The formatting of Jennifer's book is better than many Kindle poetry books. The line endings and stanza breaks are preserved, which is the key factor. If you reduce the font size so more lines fit the screen's width, it's actually pretty good. Also, if you use the Kindle app on an iPad, I suspect that it would look fine since you have a bigger screen, can view it horizontally, and there are there are more font choices.

For me, what's key is that I can never find my "real" books. It's fun to get a new book and read it for a while, but if a year or two or ten from now I decide I want to read some Reeser sonnets, there's no way I'll be able to find the paper book. The Kindle edition, though, will be with me wherever I go with my Kindle. I can be out of town on a bus somewhere when the urge strikes, and a moment later I can be reading Dark Lady sonnets.
