Today received word of acceptance of two of my poems:"The Charmer" and "Upon Meeting An Old Love" both of which were workshopped here. Thanks for all of your help!
The acceptance was to a forthcoming anthology which you can see details about here.
The Editor wants only formal poetry. He states the submissions are still open for the anthology to be publised this summer. Acceptance includes one copy of the book.

Mary, congrats! I looked at the site for the publisher--looks like a pretty nice book.

The publisher seems a bit, um, eccentric ("No blank verse! Proper punctuation is required! Introverted, autobiographical angst is boring! Well-written poems about sports and other leisure activities will be favorably received!") but I suppose that he who pays the printer calls the tune.

I also noticed several familiar names in the online version of last year's anthology--some folks who I think have posted sparingly here at the Sphere, and one who has posted quite a bit, our own Golias, Wiley Clements. So I think you'll be in good company as a contributor to this series!

Again, congratulations.

Mary,
Congratulations, and grande kudisimos, as the French would say, to you.

Well done, Mary!

I suspect my work would meet with a frosty reception, mind you, as the editor doesn't like "sloppy modernism", which I tend to lapse into even when I write in metre!

Mary,

Congratulations.

At the website I noticed "Sonnets and villanelles far out-number other submissions. We don’t ban these styles outright, but generally we steer clear of poetry workshop exercises."

Sonnets were banned at one time, so I am happy to see a surplus these days.

Mary,

That's exciting. Well done!
Formal friendly editors is always good news even if they are eccentric. In fact, I would imagine there are more than a few people who consider us eccentric with all our obsessions about rhyme and metre.

Congratulations, Mary!! I also received an acceptance letter this evening from Dr. McAlister for my poem, "Vomiting Jonah" which was written as a "fun exercise" right here on Eratosphere. I had honestly forgotten submitting it so it was a total surprise. (I really need to keep better track of submissions!!)

There is a PDF available of his first anthology online if anyone is interested in reading the first publication.

Fun "stuff"!!!

Lo

Great, Lo. Now I know I'm in good company. Mary

P.S. Just got another acceptance from McAlister for "Sock Despair", also workshopped here. Thanks to all my Eratosphere friends - without you, none of this would have been possible.
Mary
