Ed, Susan, Nemo, John, Cally, Jesse, Andrew, Katie, Cathy, Allen, Michael, Bill, Maryann, Gail, David, Nick... I appreciate the good wishes. Kate always believed in this one, and kept sending it out. They're going to do an interview with the both of us. Really, this is her achievement, far more than mine. All Hail Kate! 
Michael, my sainted mother always told me it's not polite to talk about money. But it's a fun line for the vita. On other subjects, I'm not sure about WC. They seem to have rejected my application for the first books panel, or they simply lost it. In any case, I haven't heard back, so it's likely off the table. But yes, agreed, I owe you a scotch when next we meet. Single malt. Cask strength.
Nick, I never heard those peepers until I moved to the east coast. They go all night here, and they're Loud! I haven't slept soundly for weeks...
One surprise: some old friends I haven't heard from for ages are writing their congratulations. It's a nice fringe benefit.
Oh, and it's worth saying again: All Hail Kate!
