Default X. J. Kennedy Parody Contest

I just got word that my "Annabel Lee" was selected as one of 4 finalists in the first annual X. J. Kennedy Parody competition. I don't know who the winner is yet (anyone here?), but all finalists will be published in the winter issue of Measure. Cheers!

What fun! Congratulations, Gail. Measure is a good venue. X.J. Kennedy is one of my favorite writers. So are you. A good combination to have all three in one.

Orwn Acra won! Congrats to the anagramatic Walter Ancarrow, and other Sphere runners-up. I just received the e-mail announcement, and can't find a web link, but here's what I received:

The 2012
X.J. Kennedy Parody Award

We'd like to thank all of those who submitted to Measure’s inaugural X.J. Kennedy Parody Contest. We had a huge number of inventive, funny entries, and we’re pleased with the enthusiasm with which the contest seems to have been received. The winner and four finalists are listed below, and their work will appear in Volume 7, Issue 2 of Measure, which should be out in early winter.

The deadline for next year’s contest is March 1, 2013. The winner will receive $500, and both the winner and finalists will be published in an upcoming issue of Measure.

Winner:

Walter Ancarrow for “Sea Dirge”
Finalists:

Mike Alexander for “Imitations in Hell”
Melissa Balmain for “Al Gore’s Ode on Global Warming”
Paul Buchheit for “The Reagan”
Gail White for “Annabel Lee”

Thanks for the news, Michael! In all this time, I've never known Orwn's real name.

I'd been guessing that Melissa would be in there somewhere. Congratulations to all!

Yes, great news. Kudos, all of you. (Shall we try to recruit Paul Buchheit to the Sphere?)

Congrats to Walter! And it is great to see Mike Alexander, who we know is out there, on the list!

Congrats to all.

Nice going, Walter! Much more good news to come, I'm sure. And congrats to you, too, Gail.
