I received word today that the Women Artists Datebook (published annually by Syracuse Cultural Workers)has purchased my poem, "I Dreamed We Bombed California," for the 2008 datebook. This is a nice spiral-bound datebook which contains mostly art, but some quotations and poems, also. The pay for both poetry and art is pretty good.

Alarming title, but a cool publication. Cash, too? Congratulations!

Quick Edit to say (because I realized I could be misinterpreted): the title that alarms me is the one for the poem. I live in California...

Thank you, David, Austin and Simon. Simon, I see you live in Monterey, so--as if you don't feel alarmed enough, I give you this excerpt:

.... Congress, in its wisdom,
voted to fight them in San Francisco
so that we do not have to fight them over here.

Kudos, Diane! When will the Datebook come out, and where is it sold?

Thanks, Terese. We haven't been told when the datebook goes on sale--some time in the fall. You can see the 2007 one here, which is also where you can buy the 2008 edition: http://syracuseculturalworkers.com/

The poem sounds terrific.

Looking forward to seeing it and the datebook.

Congratulations. You know, though, that you're going to have to keep fighting us here in California, because the moment you stop, we're all going to follow you to Louisiana and you'll have to fight us there . . . .
