Wiley Clements's poem Military Journalist is to be included in a forthcoming anthology of war poetry by Oxford University Press edited by Mark Bauer. OUP's last anthology of war poetry appeared in 1984 edited by John Stallworthy.

That is beyond splendid news. It's highly deserved. Wiley's poems relating to that time of his life are humane and profound. The poem you mention isn't in his own collection (unless he has changed the title).

My warmest congratulations Wiley.
Janet

Hi Jim,

I just now came in and saw this. Thanks much for the mention.

And thanks for your kind remarks, Janet and Wendy.

No, Janet, "Military Journalist" was not in my 2004 collection. It appeared in The New Formalist in 2005. The Oxford University Press office in NYC contacted either Leo or David Castleman and was referred to me for reprint permission. I don't know the editor, Mark Bauer, but I understand he's a prominent professor of psychiatry involved in treating war veterans and that he's also a poet. There's some indication the anthology will go back as far as the fifteen hundreds.

Wiley C.

Wiley,
Then I have read the poem. I felt sure that I had. I'll Google it ASAP. Congratulations once again. It must make you very happy to be recognised by such a seriously good publisher.
Janet
