I found out, rather by accident, that a poem of mine, "Jugville, USA," has been published in Glass. I did not get notification on it, but found it on a Google Search. Still, the journal is respectable, so I think the failure of notification was just a glitch.

Congrats, David! ...nothing like a "surprise" publication!

Jugville, U.S.A.??? Can't imagine what that's about. Will go search for it. Congrats.

Anne, Jugville is not far from Hooterville (haha). Seriously, congratulations, David! I can't imagine why editors don't advise when a poem is accepted....

Actually, it was a real place, now no longer exists. It was located in Northern Michigan and boasted a large pottery industry that focused on crockery used for storage (i.e., they made jugs). After decades of prosperity the place went bust--couldn't compete with them thar newfangled iceboxes. You can see the ruins of the kilns and the houses where the settlement was. There is a bed and breakfast near-by (that's what I was doing up there).

David,
I read your Jugville poem yesterday. It's 'purty' good.
Funny, Catherine! I was wondering if it might be those kinds of jugs in David's Jugville

Well, of course, I do have such a poem. Read, "Julia's Breasts," Contemporary Sonnet, November 2007. And Charles Simic's "Breasts," which you can find on-line accompanied by marvelous pictures, is an all-time favorite of mine.

L,
Congrats on your happy surprise! I found out about my most recent appearance in The Lyric when I received my subscribers copy. Kind of fun that way.
