Gerry Cambridge has accepted "To the Bride, In the Dressing Room" for the upcoming issue of the "Dark Horse." I have a great respect for his taste and was very excited about this one.
"Smartish Pace", in addition to taking some original poems ("To My Soulmate" and "The Last Bachelors") earlier this summer, has accepted a whole mess of Sappho translations. We formal poets (especially the younger ones) should look to Baltimore--there are a number of established and reputable journals like "Smartish Pace" and there is the young but already reputable "Unsplendid." What with Waywiser Press and the Hopkins writing Program, Baltimore is where it's at.
I workshopped all three of the original poems and many of the Sappho translations here and thank you for helping me with them.

Congratulations, Aaron - and I agree about Balmer - there is a lot of good poetry happening around Hopkins right now.

Nice credits! I never made it into The Dark Horse and a comment here cemented that situation--lol.

Very well done, lad. You've reminded me to withdraw a premature submission to Gerry, and you're right about Baltimore. There's also the new Johns Hopkins UP Quarterly. I glanced at two issues at Cantor's. Good stuff, but hardly friendly to any but the best-known poets.
