I've just stumbled onto "Listening to 'Peter and the Wolf' with Jason, aged 3" in the latest issue of Subtropics. Thanks for this, Alicia. Enjoy, everyone.
Hmm. For some reason, the direct link sometimes doesn't work. It did when I went through Duotrope to the magazine's web site and then to the poem. It's worth the effort, honest.

That is a beautiful poem. Thanks for pointing it out, Maryann, and thanks for writing it Alicia. I love it.

Some good the Alumni association is doing me. I didn't even know we had a national mag, and I was the E-I-C of the student mag.
Jeez.
Great Poem, A.E.!

I love this, Alicia! Thanks for the tip, Maryann.
I listened to Peter and the Wolf as a child as well, and was simply terrified. Listening to it is always a reminder of that childhood fear--and yes, the wolf is in the music! Of course!
"Kudos" isn't enough.

Very charming -- and moving.
The wolf is in the music. Indeed.

Thanks! A three-year old of course can beat a poet any day without even trying. Haven't seen the issue yet, but I'm looking forward to it. It seems a very nice new magazine.

I would like to add that Alicia has--in the most recent issue of "32 Poems"--another wonderful poem about burned toast. (Not linkable, but suscribable.)
Which just goes to prove again that an accomplished poet can take everyday events and transform them into reflections that make the mouth fall open and the eyebrows shoot up to the hairline. That's the difference between relating an anecdote and making a poem.
Thanks Alicia for being a role model!
