MODERN METRICS presents

A reading by Meredith Bergmann
3:00 PM
Saturday, October 21
Eleventh St Bar,
510 E. 11 Street between Ave A and B
New York City

Meredith Bergmann has been a professional sculptor for over 25 years, dealing with complex themes in an accessible, beautiful and stimulating way. Her motto for her work is “to move, to teach and to delight.” She works on both public monuments and on a private scale.

Her largest public commission, unveiled in 2003, was for the Boston Women’s Memorial on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston’s Back Bay. She has recently completed a commission for Converse College for a monumental statue of the singer Marian Anderson.

Meredith writes about art and her articles, essays and reviews have appeared in The Tri Quarterly Review, The American Arts Quarterly, The New York Review of Art and Sculpture Review. Her poems have been published in The New Criterion, Iambs & Trochees and on the Newington-Cropsey Cultural Studies Center website.

Meredith, I think that is so cool. Wish I could be there, but New York is a bit far. I would love to hear your stuff.

Thank you, David and Rhina, I wish you could be there, too! And many thanks to Quincy and especially to Ray for organizing the series and for inviting me.

All part of the service, Meredith. Can't be there myself, but if I were on the same continent, I would definitely go--those still in New York had better be there!
