“The lean sonnet zine” 14 by 14 has the simple aim of publishing, in each issue, fourteen contemporary sonnets by fourteen different authors.
Issue 1, due out December 14, is open for submissions now until December 1. The theme for Issue 1 is Flights of Fancy, interpreted however authors might choose. So come on over to
http://www.14by14.com
The Editor and selection panel are all members here: myself, David Anthony, Rhina Espaillat, Anna Evans, Rose Kelleher, and Paul Stevens.
The plan is to publish every two months. It’s going to be really hard, though, to come up with a theme for the February 14 issue.

Good Lord! A selection panel like that--made up of such high-quality and exacting poets and editors--is going to scare off all potential contributors!

I certainly hope not, David! Each submission will be read by some (not all) of the people on the list. It’s just a matter of getting several viewpoints on each submission.

Roger, sure, a translation is eligible if it’s a sonnet in English.
Doubtless you’re aware of issues of rights/permissions where a work isn’t in the public domain: I assume that anyone submitting a translation will have done whatever’s necessary so as not to get me into trouble!

Very cool idea. Thank God there are those who still revere the sonnet form. Tough panel to please, indeed. But that should not stop anyone from submitting.

I love the idea. I like the steep panel -- it should guarantee some top-notch stuff. Will you be accepting previously published material?

Anne, without meaning to, has raised an important question. The sonnet is hardly discriminated against in contemporary metric-friendly journals. Why do we need another online journal focusing on them in particular? I'm not asking to take the piss. I'm sure there is an answer. I'm just curious about what it is.
