Ok, everyone, here's your big chance to show the world just how intelligent of a critter you really are.

I’m assuming that it’s safe to assume that an intelligent critical response to this poem would never be published alongside of it...so I shan't bother.

Not my cup of anything,

Like the concept, but can't imagine wasting my time on that poem!

Is this for real?

The author is Paul Hoover. Irresistibly, the first two words would have to be: “This sucks.” Only another 1498 words to go.

I must admit to being flabbergasted with this contest...this must mean that the Packingtown Review (A group of English Department PhD Students at UIC) thinks that this is a good poem, which is (or would have been) inconceivable.

Furthermore, I am surprised with how few replies have been made to this post. The sharks typically circle in seconds around this much blood in the water! Is Paul Hoover a friend of the Sphere...?

Fr. RP

PS: Even if he is, that poem is still awful (The worst I’ve read in awhile)

--Well said, Rob.

(Reading lines like this:

"the whiteness of milk

its mystical skirt uplifted

miss meat and miss gravy"

I wonder if his intent might be ironic or satirical.)
