Dear Eratosphereans,
It's my pleasure to announce Maryann Corbett as the new co-moderator for the Metrical Poetry forum. She'll be replacing Kate Benedict who is still with us as a roving moderator, but needs more time for personal projects.
Maryann has a doctorate in English (medieval literature, with a minor in linguistics) from the University of Minnesota. She has worked for the past 25 years as an in-house writing teacher, indexing coordinator, and legal editor in the Office of the Revisor of Statutes, the drafting and publishing arm of the Minnesota Legislature. She wrote poetry as a young person, gave it up while she was trying to be a scholar, lost track of it while she were raising children, and found it again when the youngest one went to college. She found Eratosphere last February and has fifteen poems accepted since that time.
I am positive that our new moderating duo of Julie Stoner and Maryann Corbett will maintain the moderating excellence of Met 1.
Please join me in giving a warm Eratosphere welcome to Maryann!
Cheers,
...Alex

OOooOooo... so we're not welcome to Maryann like we have been to all the other new Mods, eh?! Well, why does she think SHE'S so special?!
Well, in spite of that, I think she's a fine chioce - a generous critic[as in she does a lot of 'em, and puts genuine effort into them], fine poet, and good citizen of the board.
I'm sorry to hear that Kate is leaving, though I guess it confirms the rumor I heard about her stealing Eratosphere office supplies. I had hoped that Julie Stoner was just throwing unsubstantiated gossip about.
So anyway, congratulations, Maryann - or, more correctly, congratulations, Eratosphere Metrical!!
