Dear Eratosphereans,
Here we are again, having recovered from another system outage this time, caused by the ISP data center where the Erato server is hosted suffering an explosion in their power room. This resulted in our server and those of all their thousands of other customers becoming unavailable for close to two days.
The server came back this morning but then I discovered that it was back to its thread deleting mode. Again! This was because backup configurations I had in place did not come back online after the restart following power restore. Hence this morning uptime was brief since I had to bring the server down for several more hours to again address the auto thread deletion problem and restore it from backups. I'm pleased to say that things have returned to normal and all the threads that were here before the outage should now be back online. If there's anything of significance that you find is missing, please respond here or PM me and I'll take care of it promptly.
Hopefully, this is the end of these downtime incidents! I'd been looking into the possibility of a redundant server under a separate ISP's facility to combat incidents like this and that effort continues with even more purpose now.
Anyhow, we're back! Post away!
Cheers,
...Alex

My dear Alex, I regard it as a very ominous sign that you are now the newest registered member at the invaluable Erato in Exile board. Many thanks, my friend.

Janice is absolutely spot on. I feel a little sheepish for not saying as much myself. I'm still quite new here, but I already think of this place as a sort of "home". I'm grateful for its presence, and Alex's dedication to maintaining the site and informing its members of all the dire goings-on as they occur.
Major kudos to all involved!

Thanks, Tim ... it seems all I did there was post status updates and recovery time estimates, though it seemed to be a good thing, cutting down the anxiety level for quite a few!
Janice, Shaun and Andrew - you're much welcome, and yes, it's good to see the end of the downtime with Erato up and functional again.
Cheers,
...Alex

Alex, Erato in Exile is like the command center 800 feet below the White House or the NORAD command center under the mountain at Boulder. Our Commander-in-Chief is always welcome.

Thanks, Alex, for kick-starting the Erato-heart again as quickly as you did. I've just been made privy to the Erato in Exile locale, which would have helped me to no end with my withdrawal symptoms.
