Perhaps the greatest guilty pleasure of New Formalism is the criticism of William Logan. Sure he's over-the-top and harsh, but is he fun to read, particularly after you digest most of what passes for criticism in literary circles! The most recent New Criterion piece is a joy, and has some surprisingly positive riffs. Check him out on Ashbery,, Komunyakaa, Schnackenberg (a fallen Rebel Angel), Longley and Hill. I won't spoil it by summarizing.
