Hi all,

Here's an idea for some fun born of my many years in improvised theater.

Lets all write a sonnet together. Wee.

Here's how it will work.

Shakespearian: abab, cdcd, efef, gg (like anyone here needs to be reminded!)

Everyone can write two lines, but they must be non-consecutive.

For the purposes of this first try, lets keep the lines end-stopped, the rhymes interesting but not impossible to follow and the language of a piece w/what came before (tone, rhetoric, etc.).

Copy the preceding text into your post w/your added line. If you and another poet cross-post, the contributer following you will have to choose the line they want to work w/the most and continue the poem.

One note: this is about fun, be generous and do your best to justify the choices of others (be they "good" or not) in your contribution.

Here's the first line:

I rarely lose my taste for lies and pain.

edit: spelling

Hell, I'm game:

I rarely loose my taste for lies and pain,
my lust for gold and sex, my thirst for booze

I rarely loose my taste for lies and pain,
my lust for gold and sex, my thirst for booze
that kills, some say, the cells within my brain

but others say it helps - and so I cruise
