We've been discussing Anthony Hecht on the Mastery Board. I wrote him last night and told him of this discussion, and he has graciously assented to field our questions on the Lariat Board this weekend. He doesn't use a computer, but he has a fax for swift response. This is an outstanding opportunity to query one of best poets of the 20th century, so go ahead and post questions (after you get his books from any library or bookstore). Early next week I shall type in his responses. I'll also post a brief review of his devastatingly good new book, The Darkness and the Light, on Richard's Discerning Eye board. And I'll post more poems on Mastery.

Another announcement: Greg Williamson, the best young poet writing in English (with the possible exception of our own beloved Alicia), will be our guest in late December. Now is a good time to read his new book, Errors in the Script.

It will be a treat to have Hecht & Williamson on Eratosphere's cyber shores as Visiting Poet Lariats! Good work, Tim.

Everyone read up on the latest (& earlier work) of these acclaimed poets & prepare interesting & enlightened questions for them. By the way, their latest books are now available here at the Able Muse bookstore

Cheers,
...Alex

I would like to add my kudos for Tim, who has somehow persuaded the elusive and reclusive Greg Williamson to join us during Christmas break.

I urge everyone to check out Greg's new book, and its predecessor, <u>The Silent Partner</u>, a collection of youthful poetry which won the Roerich Prize in 1995.

Greg is a bravura formal poet. No plodding sonnets for him. He makes it new. Take a look at his extraordinary formal experiment, "Double Exposures," a cycle of twenty-six interlocking poems that forms the center section of <u>Errors in the Script</u>.

A.S.
