Cynthia Haven has published interview/profiles with several poets (Tim Steele, Dana Gioia, etc.). Now she's published a very long one with me in the Cortland Review. If you have realaudio, you can also hear me read from my own work and the Beowulf. Here's the url: http://www.cortlandreview.com/issue/...ex.html?nl0111

I've just copied this from my nearby post. It's been totally quiet here, and perhaps my outrages, which Cortland's editor describes as "provocative and intriguing," will stimulate a little discussion. Be sure to listen to the tapes if you can access the audio. Greg Williamson will join us December 14, and I'll start a thread on Mastery to accompany Alan's excellent essay at Discerning Eye.

tim,

i enjoyed the interview and the recordings very much. but then i knew i would like the recordings. i heard you perform from the beowulf translation. it was impressive, doing it from memory, both in the original language and the translation. i really need to work on my memorization. you'd be appalled at just how little i've got stored. you didn't go into heaney's translation too much, and i was wondering if you could tell me more of what you think its strength and weaknesses are. is your translation ever going to be published in a volume by itself? prof gwynn says it is the best out there, and i'd like to read it, but i don't really want to buy the anthology. i'd rather find it by itself.

I read, I heard, I liked. An interesting interview, Tim, and the readings were splendid. Congrats.

I really enjoyed your sparkling interview in the Courtland Review, Tim. Now I'm looking forward to reading the entire Beowulf.
