I've just copied this from my nearby post. It's been totally quiet here, and perhaps my outrages, which Cortland's editor describes as "provocative and intriguing," will stimulate a little discussion. i enjoyed the interview and the recordings very much. but then i knew i would like the recordings. i heard you perform from the beowulf translation. it was impressive, doing it from memory, both in the original language and the translation. i really need to work on my memorization. you'd be appalled at just how little i've got stored. you didn't go into heaney's translation too much, and i was wondering if you could tell me more of what you think its strength and weaknesses are. is your translation ever going to be published in a volume by itself? prof gwynn says it is the best out there, and i'd like to read it, but i don't really want to buy the anthology. i'd rather find it by itself.
