Default The Birth of a Critic or My First Rattle

Rattle just accepted all three book reviews I submitted!!! I'll be submitting my reviews of books by Gail White and Julie Kane (after I write them). Whoo-hooo!! Not only do I love reading these books and writing the reviews, but doing this is a roundabout way of introducing or explaining my - let's face it - strange self and poems. (Who said this? Wasn't there a poet who recommended that poets "explain" their poems to the world? Was it TSE?)

Here's the schedule for the upcoming reviews at Rattle and the links where they'll be published (but not till that date).

Congratulations, Mary! Rattle is an excellent journal, and your reviews will get lots of exposure. I look forward to reading them when the links go live. Go celebrate!

Excellent, Mary. Your prose is wonderful; I remember your Emily Dickenson piece in Umbrella a while back. Congratulations.

Congratulations, Mary!!!

(The links aren't working for me--I get a 404 error page. Is it just me?)

I hadn't seen this until now, Mary, but Yahoo!

To be in Rattle is to die for. The last Spherian I remember seeing there was ME Hope.

Why do I think you are going to end up with a career as a literary agent? Have you read the last issue of Poets and Writers? (I thought of you when I read that article.)

Way to go, Mary!

You proposed several reviews and they accepted based on one you'd already written? Congratulations!

(Edited to add: Oh, you already submitted three and two more are in the works...Great news!)

Mary

When I say that news of your recent success is a fine, worthy, uplifting, encouraging and altogether excellent thing I mean simply that news of your recent success is a fine, worthy, uplifting, encouraging and altogether excellent thing (if you see what I mean).

Well done

Philip

Your first rattle? Clever, clever, though very strange, baby!!!

Can't wait to read them. What's the word length of a Rattle review?

Cally
