Here comes Bragging Mama again.
My two sons Michael and Keith got poems accepted in
Anthology of Poetry, a collection of poetry by students K-12, which is published every year.
I think teachers generally submit the poems, but parents can also. In this case, I sent my kids' poems without their knowledge. When I told them the poems were accepted, they were too "cool" to act excited. (They think of themselves more as athletes than poets -- in fact one of the poems was about basketball!) But I could tell they were pleased. BTW, if you ever meet them, please don't tell them I posted this. They'd kill me!
I haven't seen the anthology yet, but judging from the website, it looks quite nice. You might want to
check it out. They have samples of work from past anthologies. I especially liked this haiku, by an 8 year old girl:
GRANDPARENTS' DAY
On Grandparents' Day
You can loudly shout to them
Because they can't hear.
