Default Staple and Stand

I'll have a longish poem called 'Faroe Islands: Notes for Three Photographs' in the next Staple. I don't suppose most of you non-Brits have heard of Staple, but I'm a happy boy. Stand have also taken three of mine, called 'Nettles', 'Half Board' and 'Marstrand', but there's a backlog so I don't know exactly when they will be published. Soon, I hope. My father has also recently had a couple of poems accepted by Stand, so we're sort of hoping we'll be in the same issue! None of these poems were work-shopped here, but my link to this place encourages me to persevere so I think I owe a general thank you.

Rory

Congratulations Rory!

Staple is a wonderful lit mag. I had five inter-connected poems published there eons ago, and it was one of my proudest moments.

I used to subscribe to both it and Stand (also a top-notch mag). Time to resubscribe, I reckon. Thanks for reminding me.

Edited in: BTW, would your father be Andrew Waterman? I'm thinking that it is. Apples and trees.

Thank you, Janice. I wonder, actually, if you know the island of Marstrand. I have no idea where you live in Sweden, but as you'll presumably know it is sort of near Gothenburg. An incredible place.

Regarding your edit: yes. Il Miglior Fabbro.

Yes, I did react to the name Marstrand and wondered if it was some relic from the days of viking rule over Britain.

So you did mean the island of Marstrand, after all. Yes, I know it, I attended a week-long writer's thingy there around a decade ago, in the old Society House "Societetshuset". I remember my stay with great pleasure. How nice that you have Swedish connections.

But tell me, through what pre-birth procedure did you get to pick a poet as a parent? (Not that I am dissatisfied with the parents assigned to me, just want to know for the next time around.)

Edited in: Il Miglior Fabbro. Nobly said.

Congratulations Rory! Don't sweat the backlog -- it can be a nice surprise to have stuff that you almost forgot was out there suddenly pop up. Especially in an otherwise fallow moment.
