Rabbie Burns as an Exciseman? Dave's essay is a must-read. My big poem owes a huge debt to Chris Childers. I'd written only the second section, and he persuaded me to keep at it and develop it into a full scale ode. That was one of the most profitable forays into the Deep End I ever had. Thanks, Chris.

I'm told my Burns essay will be a prose feature on Poetry Daily starting August 18th, so you can get it free. I'll hope Hudson will feature Tim's superb sequence so more people can find it as well... Jarman's review is very good on Milton. My second piece in the issue reviews Craig Arnold, David Yezzi, Glyn Maxwell, Anne Stevenson and Maura Stanton. There's a lot of other stuff that looks quite interesting to me, so I hope some of you will subscribe or buy the issue.
