Default Think Journal, again

Today I received an acceptance of a sonnet from Think Journal, which has also published other Spherians. I think that in the past there may have been some confusion between this and another magazine called Think. At any rate, I looked up their mission statement and saw nothing to suggest any philosophical bias, and a lot to make it look attractive to our crowd. (I might add that the poem they took from me was called "Nativity Scene" & is, in my own way, religious).

Gail, great news! The editor has just sent me a "bound" leaflet intended for promotional purposes where I see the next issue, in addition to David Mason as the feature, will also include work from Jared Carter, Alfred Nicol, E. Shaun Russell, J.B. Sisson, C.B. Anderson and Mark Allinson, in addition to yours.

Congrats to everyone taking part.

Thanks, Jennifer.

The editor of Think has taken a five thousand word essay, commissioned by the magazine. The editor spotted some notes I posted on a GT thread and asked if I would consider expanding them into an essay. So I did.

Default confusion?

Was there confusion? Viz:

Think, Christine Yurick, editor, PO Box 454, Downington, PA 19335. Published 4 times/yr. Subscription: $20. Sample: $6. 50 pgs.
The philosophical theme of Think adheres to that of Ayn Rand, and focuses on form, structure, plot, reason and rationality.
Accepts poetry, fiction, art, criticism, letters, parts of novels, long poems. The journal is devoted to, but not restricted to, the individual works of writers who live by, and believe in, Ayn Rand’s objectivist views.

Kate, that was the original editorial statement. The editor changed it during the progress of an earlier discussion here on this board.

I know I wrote to her about the statement, expressing reservations; I don't know who else did. But the assembled poets do look very impressive.

Yes, that mission statement from the original masthead on the mag was an issue for me. And had it remained I wouldn't be in this next edition. I have no desire to align my work with any political orientation whatsoever.

And at the same time I have no interest in what editors believe in their private lives, so long as that belief is not visible in the magazine. If the chapbook I published with Quincy's MM (now Exot) had been slathered with Marxoid references, I would have refused to publish there there too.

Same with Leo's and with Paul's publications. I do not support the very different private views of either editor, but since their views do not appear in their magazines I am happy to publish with them.

I don't even care to enquire whether my editors are bald or not, just so long as the magazine does not have hairist comments in its masthead.
