Tim Murphy and I have recently learned that our Beowulf translation will be included in the next edition of the Longman anthology. Longman will also bring out a separate scholarly edition in the U.S. and Great Britain. Publication is scheduled for July 2, 2002.

I've been lucky enough to see some excerpts, and they're excellent. Although I don't claim to be Beowulf scholar, I did learn to read Anglo Saxon and made it through several complete readings of the original, and to my ear the Sullivan and Murphy translation captures the lilt and texture and momentum of the original. Don't miss it.
