Dear Eratosphereans,I'm pleased to introduce our brand new co-moderator for the Non-Metrical forum, Janice D. Soderling! She's also displayed a critical presence second to none all around the Sphere and has done so with skill and commendable disposition. She will be co-moderating with Dee Cohen who has done and keeps doing an outstanding job at Non-Met. Janice replaces Katy Evans-Bush who has been away for a while and is no longer able to attend to Non-Met. Although Janice is new to the Sphere, she comes to us with boundless potential as a poet, Met and Non-Met and, even as a writer. She has already garnered substantial recognition for her work as can be seen from her bio: Janice D. Soderling is a self-employed copywriter/translator/editor for the business sector and academia. Her work in English and Swedish—fiction, poetry and literary translations—has appeared in such literary journals as Beloit Poetry Review, Glimmer Train, the Malahat Review, the Fiddlehead, Acumen, Anon, Other Poetry, Staple. She is represented in anthologies and at a number of online sites.Janice was born and raised in the US, but lives in Sweden in a smallish village in a largish house where roe deer play havoc with her crocuses and fruit trees. Her children are fledged and flown.
Please join me in giving a hearty Erato welcome to Janice! Cheers, ...Alex

Thank you very much Alex, for your very kind words.I will do my best to emulate the high example set by all your other moderators. I remember well how Maryann and Dee kindly steered me on course when I was a newbie. Eratosphere is an invaluable tool for learning and sharing writing skills. For those who are expats in a non-English speaking community, as for those who live in a remote area without writer cohorts, Eratosphere provides a venue to develop writing skills in ways unthought of before the advent of the Internet. I am proud to be associated with one and all in the far-flung and stimulating Eratosphre community, one that holds out a welcoming hand to seasoned veterans and beginners alike. Finally, I am looking forward to taking part in this circular learning process, and I hope I can make a worthwhile contribution. Best Janice

Thanks, Janice, for your time and efforts. The role of moderator is largely unsung, and the people in it take more than their share of grief during the periodic outbreaks of fussing and name-calling. But without moderators, a board like this could not function as smoothly and helpfully as it usually does.Susan

Welcome, Janice. It's great to see the moderator slate strengthening like this. Most of the time, the moderator job is a very pleasurable one--you see good writing get better and feel part of the process. I'm sure you will find it so.John

"Those who live in rural areas remote from writer cohorts." In NW Minnesota there are still villages where the elderly prefer to speak Swedish! Well, the Eratovillage spans the globe, and we need people to run it. Thanks for taking this on, Janice.

Great news, Janice! As one "expat" living in a rural village in French-speaking Quebec, I know just what you mean. C.
