Nothing ubiquitous here. Classic feel without the stricture, nothing intimidates. Robinson's essay was plain illuminating. Delicate mix of genres in the writing, pleasant visuals that do not detract from theme. Has the feeling of visiting an Elizabethan library on a wet London Monday.

I enjoyed Beth Houston's ode to Nike of Samothrace. Such timeless musings of the moment that was envisioned in the creation of the statue. But I think I know what /really/ happened. Here's my take on it. Alighting on some warship's prow, she brings Their lunch, to slake the sailor's crave, her arms Laden with bags of food, flame broiled from Burger King Vision of marble, grace, smoothest charms Yet wings and staccato poise, paper bags Stuffed full beneath her breast, she declares Horrid are those Sirens, they are such nags Shrill cries, for french fries delivered from air!? Argonauts still, Odysseus and his fleece As rower and his burger and his malt This is Lo-Cal, these Whoppers have no Greece To rid you of flabby tums, no insult She says to sailors who now see that she's Alighted before the ship's catapult
