REMINDER NOTE: THE EVENT KICK-OFF WAS TODAY ... IT's UP & RUNNING NOW (Friday, October 21, 2016) ... Details below--

First, thank you to all who submitted to the 2016 Able Muse / Eratosphere Sonnet Bake-Off event (as announced at Eratosphere's Distinguished Guest Forum at http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/showthread.php?t=26875). Now that the event is underway, I feel an event guide will be helpful for our first-timers.

The Top Secret Distinguished Guest (DG) will start posting the ten finalist sonnets (more or less, depending on the quality of the submissions), two per day, with their comments on Eratoshere (http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/), specifically on the Distinguished Guest Forum (http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/forumdisplay.php?f=31), starting on Friday, October 21, ending on on before Friday, October 28. In order to allow sufficient time for comments on all ten finalists, popular voting for readers’ first, second and third choices will begin on Friday, October 28 and end at midnight (EDT) on Monday, October 31.

NOTE: If you submitted a sonnet for the Bake-Off event, the only way to find out if you made the finals, or better won, is by monitoring which sonnets are posted daily by the DG.

When all the finalists have eventually been posted, results will be tabulated and a popular winner will be announced as soon as the DG can manage it, at which time all ten (more or less) finalists’ identities will also be divulged, as will be the identity of the Top Secret Distinguished Guest, who will also announce his/her own top picks. Additionally, any of the top sonnets might also be selected for publication in an upcoming issue of Able Muse (i.e. in the biannual review of poetry, prose & art).

1) Visit Eratosphere's Distinguished Guest Forum daily during the event (October 21-28) to see if your sonnet made it among the top ten (more or less) finalists, posted two per day. This is the only way to find out if your sonnet made it to the top of the pile -- there will be no personal email notification.

2) If you also want to participate and post your own comments during the event, then you need to register as a member of Eratosphere (at http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/register.php). Eratosphere registration and membership are free.

See you there, and good luck with your submitted sonnet achieving top placement!
