Tilt-a-Whirl
A Poetry Sporadical of Repeating Forms

Afterwards

by John Byrne

I never feel post-coital triste
That’s said to come from Adam’s sin.
With you there’s only holy bliss
That never generates a triste.
So why did Augustine insist
It isn’t grace we’re rolling in
When post-it-all, there is no triste
Nor vestiges of any sin.

John Byrne lives in Albany, Oregon. He writes short stories, short plays, and short poems. His poems have been included in a recent anthology of contemporary Northwest poets entitled Many Trails to the Summit (Rose Alley Press, 2010), in a forthcoming anthology called Love Notes (Vagabondage Press, 2012) and in previous editions of Tilt-a-Whirl and Umbrella.
