A Poetry Sporadical of Repeating Forms
Receive him, earth, for cherishing,
this man that was my brother.
Now is his last long evening.
He carries with him everything
that human years upgather.
Receive him, earth, for cherishing.
He comes here all abandoning,
his song, his strife, together.
Now is his last long evening.
He has made done with bargaining:
he weighs not when nor whether.
Receive him, earth, for cherishing,
to sleep with no awakening
in harsh or clement weather.
Now is his last long evening.
My brother’s soul has taken wing.
His clay will be no bother.
Now is his last long evening.
Receive him, earth, for cherishing.
