Plot with Epilog
Pale Polly and her pal Paul,
having splurged on pullets and pilchards,
pile onto a pillion, peel off
and splash through a pool of spilt pilsner.
Pyle the publicist
parlays this paltry exploit
into an explosion implicating
a pilaster, a pillarbox and a lightpole,
and unspools an implausible spiel
about pills, pallor, splinters and splints,
polyps, splayed spleens, epilepsy,
implants, transplants—
replete with public appeals
explicating the appalling plight
of these pulped pillars
of our plumeless bipedal populace.
Meanwhile Paul and Polly,
oblivious of their place in the plot,
pool their pelf
and get spliced in simple splendor.
