PRAISE FOR "CREATION STORY"
“
"Yeats's second coming has nothing on these creation (and destruction) stories...These poems explore imperfect actual worlds and possible other worlds, the earth-bound and the cosmic, in a dazzling array of voices and scenarios."
MICHAEL DIEBERT, "Life Outside the Set"
“
"Whether dealing with the everyday, quantum physics, or fantasy, [these poems] seem to spring from the imagination of a young boy, the knowledge of a scientist, and the craft of a poet, combined."
KAREN PAUL HOLMES, "No Such Thing As Distance"
“
"From a vision of God as special education teacher constructing classroom valentines, to a drum choir of nasturtiums praising the Holy Spirit, Shields' poetry reflects themes of spiritual abundance and great joy."
