Meditation

I sit in the dusk,
folding pale hands together,
bones in my lap.

If I touch the light
a neighborhood of blood will shine
in the web between my fingers,
rosy in this room of fading sky.

My body leans toward the window,
toward dark clouds migrating
along the rust horizon;
toward the wind that rises
in black branches at the field’s edge,
carrying my breath into the hills.
