Elliptical

Hitch me, oh my dazzling star,
my headlong, my helio-, my wandering frost

Fling me far from—
Swing me near to—

Eclipse me
with your great vavoom, your eccentric dust

Neutral Ode

O gray, the smear of many skies,
night-thickness pierceable only by horns,

you. Gray, who prevents gazing,
but whose softness calls forth floating.

Gray, who mesmerizes, who subdues,
who glooms the horizons, yes,

you: the envelope,
the old hair,
the scarf around the throat.

You, gray, are the color of the whisper,
the peripheral blur,

and the dust, which returns.

Severance

they will not eat me
when my time comes
they will purr

the appropriate song
their rite is strong

my plush of cats
will bolster me
in the pillowless moment
