For those asking if previously published translations are accepted for the translation bake-off as announced at, the Eratosphere Distinguished Guest Forum. The simple answer is, yes!

As with our recently concluded and highly successful sonnet bake-off, your translation may be unpublished or published (however, do not send translations published in anthologies or trade press books). You may also acknowledge the journal of initial publication.

The well-know Eratospherean, Chris Childers, will be the host for this event. He has just kicked off the event with a call for submissions. Chris will be screening the material for the our Distinguished Guest for translation and Final Judge, Rachel Hadas.

The submissions have been coming in from Eratosphereans and others. However, the Spherean response has not been as lively as I expected. Yes, there's still over a month left in the submission window, so I encourage everyone who can to jump with their submission in their area of interest before teh May 1, 2009 deadline.
