Allen, I think we all grasped more or less immediately that this rather laborious shaggy-cucumber story is about the distinction between its and it's. The trouble is that it simply isn't funny - more of a Drill, I'm afraid, than an Amusement.

OK, thanks Allen.

So, the point was to clarify by example the difference between its and it's. It wasn't some sideways comment on non-gender-specific pronouns. And it wasn't a joke about MIT itself, you just wanted to use word 'tautology' for some reason, though what the tautology was/is here, is, as you say, tough to figure out. So, finally, the reason I couldn't see what the joke was here was because there wasn't one: it was simply a piece of prose that used it and it's correctly.

I'm up to speed now.

If its wit is less than what it's worth, why lessen the lesson?

I love it!

I wouldn't change a thing.
I would love to see it as a cartoon strip too, and with Further Adventures to follow..

Thanks, Allen, for brightening my day!

Thank you, Graham.
So its meaning is "'Tain't over till it's over"?
'Tisn't.
