Many thanks, Rick, Cally, and Martin.
Cally, that's a very flattering comparison! After I read it, I went and put on Leonard Cohen's sung version of it, which is how I first came across Byron's poem (I have a shocking lack of literary education!). Curiously enough, I had a Cohen tune in my head when I wrote this poem, his Take this Waltz (which is his translation of Lorca's Little Viennese Waltz). -Matt |
Following a PM, I'm just adding a link to the poem itself:

Thanks John!

Matt,
I hope it's OK to add this link here for you. I thought PMing it would deprive others from enjoying this little song with lyrics in Rimbaud's own handwriting on the screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eEQpJ_oTyg |
Congrats to Matt <(:-)
It's a beautiful poem, with potential to be set to music imho. Best wishes, Fliss |
Mignon, thank you for the song link.
Fliss, thanks! I do tend to sing this poem to a tune in waltz time. |
