Yay! That's the one I use! It's really good and I didn't want to confuse it. Thanks, RogerBob.

I've looked into Brave and it seems you have to start from Chrome, which in my case I have not got, and it seems that downloading a YouTube is a little more complicated than just pressing the down arrow and waiting for it to show up in my "downloads". I am also a bit worried about filling up my system's memory with stuff.

Thanks, everybody.

Hi Annie,

My understanding is that you can just download Brave, it's a standalone browser and you don't need to have Chrome installed first. Just go here and download for Mac or PC. I can't find anything that says you need to have Chrome first, and I can't think of any reason why you'd need to. If you've found something that says otherwise I'd be interested to see it. Maybe you've read that Brave is based on Chrome (or at least, on Chromium, which Chrome is also based on -- as is Microsoft Edge and various other browsers)?

I agree with Matt.

In fact, it seems to me that Brave is based on the same open source code that is at the heart of the Chrome browser. After I told Brave to import my bookmarks and settings from Chrome, Brave took on almost the exact appearance of Chrome. Only one or two icons in the upper right corner changed a bit, which is the only way I can tell at a glance if I'm in Chrome or Brave.

I like Brave, but I don't like the Brave search engine they are trying to force on you.

It defaults to its own search engine, which it claims is "100% private and anonymous". I guess privacy and security are among the main reasons people opt to use Brave.

You can change the search engine in the settings. Go to settings->search engine and you'll find a drop-down menu.

I cut Netflix and pay for YouTube. There is never anything I want to watch on Netflix.

I'm late to this thread, but for anyone using Firefox as their web browser, the Unhook extension takes care of YT ads as well as numerous other small annoyances. I've used it for a year or two now, very happily.

Oh, Christine! I do - so I did. Three clicks. Thirty seconds. Thank you!
