I'm also with Mark here. It is the sort of poem one could overthink but if I back off and see it I find it wistful and charming. Wistful because I feel some nostalgia for when the children were younger. I may be reading that into it though because my son just turned thirty and I still haven't got over him not being upstairs. I enjoyed this.

Thanks David and John. Yes, best not to overthink it. Just one of Pooh's Hums. My son also turned 30 a few days ago and that may have prompted these memories.

Hi Joe,

I like how the age and gender of the siblings and the youngest's bitey nature echo the Baudelaire characters themselves. I'm not sure about "Pyjama’d, nightied," and the opening line feels kind of weak. Otherwise this was quite an enjoyable poem.
