Just for the record, I don't think she's either. I don't give her enough credit to be either. I think she's a bright woman who was in the right place at the right time with the right people. Which does not mean I think she deserves to be there. She just is.

Am I panic-stricken? Nah. I'm just continuely amazed at the gullibility of people who so desperately need to hold onto their fears.

The right can speak ill of Obama and his "guns and religion" remark as much as they want but for all that - it's fear, plain and simple, which drives some people.

Palin and McCain are familiar figures to some - and therefore comfortable. It's pop AND mom. How comforting that must be to people who fear real change. People willing to take ontrol in a world which seems to be without any is always reassuring. It's not hard to give it up, especially when the people you're giving it to are reassuring you that you'll still have some.

Even if it's not going to be true.
