Inaugural Ode

God bless Barack Obama on this day,
His little girls, his lovely wife, his puppy.
The suffering world has bowed its head to pray
And place its faith in our most-favored yuppie.

A Kenyan, Kansan, Harvard Man Who Can,
A bright, new hope for those who simply can’t,
A fighter, and a true American,
Who speaks with reason and avoids the rant.

A handsome man, good with a basketball,
Familiar with the courts of play and law,
A graceful man to represent us all,
A helpful, healing change for wounds still raw.

May we find compromise who disagree,
May all our hearts and souls be free of hate,
Make manifest his buoyancy in me,
And may love guide us to a better fate.
