For me, today's good news is that there’s been an evolution of revolution and that the newborn Children’s Crusade will shame and weaken the NRA and those they pay to value guns over life.

My first grandchild, a boy, was born on Valentine's Day.

Congratulations, David. That's lovely news.

And congrats from Pete, too. Our daughter's first baby is due in May. (My other six grandchildren are from the son and daughter of my first marriage.)

This afternoon one of my neighbours held a sale of ladies' second-hand clothing, in aid of the Alzheimer's Society. It raised over £300 ($425).

I bought a designer-label 3-piece jacket, skirt and camisole top, brand new with the original price tags of £246.50 ($341.49) for just £15.00 ($20.78), along with several other bargains.

We had lots of fun, and everyone was happy to pay more than the [very cheap] asking prices, for such a good cause. My only problem was sneaking a large bagful of stuff past my husband, to whom I'd promised I would buy only ONE item!

I shall just have to resort to that old chestnut: "A new dress?? No, darling, ...I've had this for ages!"
(The contents of my wardrobe are an unknown quantity, ...even to ME!) ;)

PS. And it's now Mothers day in the UK (or Mothering Sunday), so in a few hours' time I will be "thoroughly spoiled" by my children! That's what I call a good weekend :D

Tonight I went to see "The Searchers" at my local theatre. What a great performance from a bunch of guys who are now well into their 70s, and who've been going for over half a century. Remember Needles and Pins?

Here they are as young men in 1964

and as old men in 2009

John McNally (the white-haired guitarist in the link above) had a stroke last year, and the band had to cancel their tour for a few months, but he's fully recovered and was certainly on top form tonight!!!

They covered Running Scared, and I felt like a teenager all over again, ...when I went to see Roy Orbison and the Walker Brothers in Birmingham... (1966, I think it was.)

Who's got some more good news to relate?

This evening I taught a new player to throw the Frisbee forehand, backhand, and scoober in a very short half hour. He was throwing them 15-20 yards at the end, without wobble or peel, and shows real talent. He's also quite fast, is coachable, and has good hands. A good recruit for the team, which is desperately short of players.

Right now, 10pm in Los Angeles, I'm grateful to find the Sphere back online!

May the ghost in the machine scare itself to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, thank you to Alex for saving the Sphere again.
"He saved the Sphere. A lot."

Cheers,
John

Yes, thanks Alex!

Hey, John! A 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' reference! Nice...

Just delivered my book to the press. Lesser Magi (Hummingbird Press: Santa Cruz, 2018) will be available on June 9, with a launch that day in Carmel, California. I'll post soonish on Accomplished Members and General Announcements (and anywhere else I can dubiously justify in my egocentric mind...) about the launch and how to buy the book, but I wanted to share this here today on this thread I so enjoy. Thank you, Friends, for all your contributions to my having a book to deliver.
