Congratulations!

John Whitworth 09-19-2011 11:56 PM

Well done, Cally. And one third as well done me, because they took one of mine at about the same time.
Ungraciously may I say:

1. Why do they take so flaming long about it? Over a year.
2. That contract you sign - you would think it was for a whole book. Two closely written pages. I'm not even sure I understand all of it. They want me to insist on an acknowledgement that the poem appeared in Hudson Review, such a number, such a date. But they don't tell me WHEN that will be, so how can I? Not that it stops me signing. I'l sign anything.

OK. Whinge over. it's a prestigious magazine (vile word). Or Sam said it was. That's why I sent stuf ithe first place. So lots of prestige to you, Cally, and, as I said, about as third as much to me.

The Hudson's one of the river's that runs through New York, isn't it? Why do we have no Thames Review. It sounds quite good.

How did I miss this news! Cally, I am so happy for you. Well deserved; excellent poems, a superior forum. Jumping for joy.

Adam Elgar 09-20-2011 05:41 AM

Three congratulations to Cally and one to John, to get the shares right.
Well done both!

Janice D. Soderling 09-20-2011 06:00 AM

Oh, I did not read comments. Apologies, John, you know I am happy for you as well, though you aren't exactly a newcomer to fame and good fortune. Still it is always a thrill, isn't it, to find editors who want others to read what one has written.

John Whitworth 09-20-2011 09:12 AM

That is surely true, Janice. But there's always someone luckier, curse it.

Nicholas F. 09-20-2011 10:43 AM

Congrats to you, too, John.
