I actually can't listen to Ravel's 'Pavane pour une infante défunte', so I don't think I could cope with the Kindertotenlieder :-/

I've just remembered a time when I was working at a law firm and a pleasant fellow secretary would give me a lift home when I was particularly poorly. During one such journey, I think she put on something in which John Betjeman was performing his poems to music. Does that sound likely?

Betjeman's Banana Blush? Pretty much every track is a little piece of wonder. Set to music by Jim Parker. I think it's probably too easy to dismiss Betjeman as a smug and silly man but I find these songs genuinely touching.
