If I wanted to get away with dressing the way he does (see pic at upper right), I'd say as little as possible in as many words and for as long as possible too. It's clear that he values simply attracting attention to himself far beyond anything else in life. Maybe he gets more dates (or prunes) that way than the scientists, actual poets, advertising men and women, and farmers he evidently sees himself in competition with. Wotta sex life! Wotta suit! Wotta piece of trivia.

I love that suit.
You're such a square, Allen. Nemo |

Quote:
Chank´ (chăņk) n.1.(Zool.) The East Indian name for the large spiral shell of several species of sea conch much used in making bangles, esp. Turbinella pyrum. Called also chank shell. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Chank Who knew? ;) Thanks, Bill |
Well, I did actually, but only because I just looked it up, too. :)
However, I fail to see how that fits into Allen's hypothesis. Is that the sort of leap of faith that is required to make sense of conceptual poetry? Slick sleight of poetical hand, along the lines of the Old Shell Game? On reflection, Lear did refer to the Hills of the Chankly Bore... I shall meditate on this. |
