I don't reread Eliot's juvenilia, but once in a while I reread Ricks' notes on those poems because they are fun and amazing.

Ricks is a very perceptive critic. Sometimes he might seem to be forcing things a little (for example, on hyphens in Philip Larkin) but he is always interesting.

The footnotes to his Tennyson are fun too.. (Am away from my books or I would quote an example or two.)

I believe Richard Dawkins has a healthy appreciation of literature. If my understanding of the process is correct, you could tweet him.

I get to read with Alicia next Sunday. Maybe we can drum up some votes at Otto's Shrunken Head.

Charlotte Innes 05-16-2015 10:10 PM

Go for it, Sam. And lucky you!

I shared the news about Alicia on my Facebook page, which is great way to get the news out, if you're "friends" with people eligible to vote--and who might share too.

I finally got around to writing a short blog in support of Alicia, if anyone has an interest in linking to such things:
http://profanepoet.wordpress.com/201...next-election/

It doesn't usually get very many readers, but more than my 12 followers on Twitter. Like Charlotte I also shared on Facebook.

I just tweeted a link to your blog to my 121 followers from @amjuster. Please encourage widely followed friends to retweet.

I have approved this message.

Michael Juster 05-18-2015 06:54 AM

OK, Marly Youmans just retweeted to her 1,005 followers (well, she is MUCH more charming than I am...)!

Can we do even better?

Oh, and remember to use that "juggernaut" term in your comments.

Michael Juster 05-18-2015 07:59 AM

Thanks also to GM Palmer for retweeting to his 300 folllowers!

How about some of our British friends? Twitter is stuffed to the gills with British poets--you must know one or two.

Jennifer Reeser 05-20-2015 07:11 AM

Mary, I, too, have shared this on my Facebook page, where I have nearly 2,000 friends, readers and followers from Hawaii east to China. Several of these are Oxford graduates eligible to vote, in the Middle East, on the Indian sub-continent, in Eastern Europe, the United Kingdom, and in the United States.

All best,
Jennifer
