Soundzine 11 In Gear
Hi, folks!
The new issue of Soundzine is live and in living color! Please give us a look and a listen. http://www.soundzine.net We would also like to announce our new Poetry Editor - Sherry O'Keefe. Many of you may know Sherry from The Sphere or her many, many publications. We are thrilled to be working with her. We are grateful for all the support we've received from poets here at Erato, and we hope to continue to be a strong venue for such fine work. Best to all of you! -Charles Musser |
Can't wait to read it, Charles! Soundzine is always a treat.
Warm congratulations to both Soundzine for nabbing Sherry and to Sherry for her new appointment to an already strong team. A wonderful combination. |
I can honestly say this is one of the best Sounzines I've seen (and heard.)
A triumph in the face of adversity. Love the artwork, and the company. Well done Charles and Co. In a strong field, I have to say my favourite is Ann Drysdale's contribution. Her poems/readings made me laugh out loud. Philip |
Good company indeed. I am delighted to be in it and immoderately chuffed by Philip's kind accolade.
BUT - at the risk of sounding like an Oscar-fondler, I must thank the Sphereans who rallied to my call for help with the recording, starting with John's "take the green plug and look for the green hole" and ending with Charles's selfless holding of my hand across the Atlantic during the moment of consummation, so to speak. Bless you! |
This is a tremendous issue, S-zine! Thanks for your support of things Sphereical.
|
Fondle that Oscar, Ann. The recording sounds great and the bird poem is enormous fun. I wonder why I imagined you having more of an alto voice, though.
Beautiful issue. |
Back again to say that it was truly a terrific issue and maybe because of the mood I'm in today I especially fell for Mike Cantor's River Children, followed closely by Ann Drysdale's In God's Pocket and Kent Leatham's Language of Love.
On another day, in another mood, I might have picked others. A very fine issue indeed. Lovely artwork selections too. |
Charles,
Congrats on yet another great issue! It's a joy to find myself in such distinguished company. I don't know who does the artwork and layout, but whoever it is, she deserves a bonus for this one: the issue looks superb! Thanks, Bill |
I agree, it's an outstanding issue and it looks beautiful. I'm delighted to be included.
Like Janice, I did especially enjoy Michael Cantor's 'River Children', also Rick Mullin's 'Marquis' - but there's so much to savour here - I'll be re-reading this for some time to come I think. |

Now that I have had a chance to get through it, I must say, it is a splendid issue, with so many poems to enjoy! I'm honored to be in such fine company. Congrats to all!

Many thanks to everyone for your gracious and kind comments. But our writers and artists are the heroes.
Now comes the hard part: living up to the superlatives in future issues. Cheers! -Charles |
My ears are salivating - no, scratch that, sounds disgusting - anyway, I can't wait to hear it. Congratulations to all involved. I always look forward to this one.

I shall look it up, but, alas, it is bitter, since I was to be in the next edition before the editor suddenly changed and my poem unaccepted.
|
I thought I'd pulled a "never mind" already, but I hadn't, apparently. Sounds as if all ended well.
|
Thanks and congrats to Charles Musser and everybody else involved in putting this together. It's a very well done webzine - clean layouts, poems well presented, excellent graphics. I've been in there twice now, and both times the illustrations that ran with my stuff really worked to complement and enhance the poetry.
For me, Anne Drysdale's readings were the highlight of the issue. I don't know why you bother with publishing your poetry, Anne. Just recite it on street corners and you'll draw a crowd. |
Quincy, you're right, it did, which is great. I just wish, I guess, that Mary had been able to do the edition of Soundzine (I have no idea what happened there), so I could get it out a little sooner, so I could put in my other submissions that I had a publication somewhere. In any case, Mary has been a saint to me in every way, and I have nothing but thanks for her.
|
I know it's been a long wait, Kevin, but your poem (the first poem I accepted for the following issue of SZ, not knowing till the last minute that I wouldn't continue to be an editor there) IS (as we've discussed over the past few months, waiting for SZ's editorial decision) forthcoming in Lavender, Issue 2, and it's the very first poem in the issue.

Sorry. |
Thank you, Michael. And Philip - again. I like the idea of being a footloose troubadour (and don't think I haven't tried) but unfortunately the immediate impression I give is one of an intoxicated vagrant and I always get moved on by the law before I really hit my stride.

Some of my best friends are intoxicated vagrants.
You say it like it's a bad thing... P |
