Lines of Flight - poems by Catherine Chandler: Release Announcement
Dear Eratosphereans: |
Congratulations, Cathy!
I just ordered my copy, and I'm really looking forward to a good read. Best, Jean |
Hurrah, Cathy!
|
Congratulations, Cathy!

Way ahead of y'all. Pre-ordered already; eagerly awaiting book! Congrats, Cathy.
|
Hey, Maryann - it's not pre-order for Cathy's book. It's the real order, because it's released and available now! (Only Wendy's book is still on pre-order until the May 2 official release date, and that's so to make sure that Poetry's first-publication agreement for one of the poems in her book is not violated.)
Cheers, ...Alex |
This is great news, Cathy. Reading your poems online has helped me set high standards for myself, and so I look forward to the more sustained enjoyment I'll get from this collection...!
|
Good stuff, Cathy.
|
Terrific news, Cathy. I'm looking forward to reading it.

For the overall look of professionalism, I want to give a small heads up here:

Having got that off my chest, I'm looking forward to holding a copy of Catherine's poetry. Her offerings on this site have always impressed me. Congrats, madame! :) |
Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and support!
Cathy |
Thanks, Chiago, for pointing them out. They're type errors introduced by the site HTML coding tools--they've been fixed along with others I ferreted out. And, the book itself is (typographically) error-free!
Cheers, ...Alex |
Beautiful, Cathy! Congratulations, and I look forward to reading this.
Best, Siham |
It's arrived, and it's a handsome book. I'm diving in. See you in a day or so.
Ed |
Warm congratulations, Cathy. I've just placed my order.
John |
Congrats, Cathy, I'm looking forward to it!

I've been treating this book badly. I've been carrying Lines of Flight around with me for the last week or so, as it's a pleasure to keep dipping back into it. I won't list my favorite poems, because there are so many and they keep jockeying for position. Thank you, Cathy -- this is a lovely read.
Ed |
Cathy--
Now that I have my copy I must congratulate you again. I had trouble not reading the whole book all at once, each poem such a thought-provoking pleasure that I didn't want to stop. Unlike Ed, I'm going to name a favorite: I keep going back to "Joy Ride," wondering how you knew my childhood (and how it resonates now) so well! A terrific accomplishment. Best, Jean |
I would've named 'Joy Ride,' too, with its great last line, except for 'Writ,' 'Caesura,' Fatuity,' 'To the Man on Mansfield Street,' 'When in Lourdes,' 'Matryoshka' and, oh, half a dozen other bits and pieces. Jean has it right, though. A lovely, lovely book!
Ed |
Siham, Ed, John, Andrew, Jean, Thanks for your kind words. You know, Jean, a family members also said her favorite is "Joy Ride", but of course she rode her bike down Beaumont hill, too! And Ed, I'll be reading two of the poems you mention at WCU in June ("Matryoshka" and "For the Man on Mansfield Street"). It's so wonderful to hear readers' favorites and their reactions! I'd love to hear from more of you, too!
Thanks so much. Cathy |
