The Cosmic Purr - poems by Aaron Poochigian: Release Announcement
Dear Eratosphereans: |
Congratulations, Aaron!
Best of luck with this wonderful accomplishment: may it hit the charts and be widely enjoyed and fully appreciated. All the best. Regards |
Well done, Aaron. This and the Varoujan in the same week!
|
Excellent news. I've bought the Kindle version and look forward to reading it.
|
Ordered! and eagerly awaited.
|
Aaron, congratulations!
David, is the Kindle version formatted correctly? That is, does it properly show line and stanza breaks? |
Yes, the formatting's fine.
|
How much does the Kindle version cost? I didn't see a price.
Oh, and major kudos to Aaron! and also to Alex! |
Thanks everyone!
Andrew - Kindle version is £6.50 at Amazon UK, $9.99 Amazon US. The other worldwide Amazon sites are slower to update their databases, but when they do eventually, it will for around €7.57 at the EU sites that are enabled for Kindle versions (i.e. amazon.it, amazon.de, amazon.fr, and amazon.es). Also, there'll be a Barnes & Noble Nook and Apple iTunes store digital version (iPhone, iPad, etc.) in the next few days -- it should have been available at the same time as the Kindle version, but thus far, their release process seems to be on the slow side. Cheers, ...Alex |
Wow, thanks for the excitement--I thrive on it. I'm pulling out all the stops promoting this thing--we'll see what happens.
Thanks to Alex as well, who has been a patient and conscientious editor. |
Nevermind. I just bought it on amazon.it for 7.80 euros, and it looks great layout wise. Alex, you're a wiz.
|
Great. The Kindle in the US is $9.99, which is less than the print (as it should be, but often isn't). Glad to hear the formatting is fine, since so many poetry books are sloppily Kindle-ized.
The Kindle sample, by the way, doesn't give any poems, so I couldn't inspect the formatting on my own. Were it not for this thread, I might have hesitated to buy. But now it's a go! |
Love love love love it! Such vitality, Aaron - and a thrill to meet some of the poems you workshopped here.
It's a real page turner! I read it without stopping - the energy of the language propels one through the pages! Best of luck with it, Aaron!! Cally |
Congratulations, Aaron!
Best, Jean |
Really nice looking book, love the phases -- nice.
J |
Congrats, Aaron. Very well designed cover. And I wasn't familiar with Diana Der-Hovanessian's work, so I've just spent a few enjoyable moments browsing around her site.
Here's hoping this one will be a bestseller! Thanks, Bill |
Nice, Aaron!
Nemo |
Thanks again, all, for sharing in my excitement. Cally, I have a feeling that at least a phrase or two of yours make it into Dave's blurb--thanks so much.
Bill, we need to get you back up here to NYC to read again. And, Nemo, I will see you soon--I'll be getting out more often. Thanks, thanks, my friends. |
Aaron,
I am shocked, shocked, that you think Cally has any influence whatsoever on my blurbing! Well, a tweak here and there... But I swear to all the dying gods that "pussycat poet" was my own phrase, owing only to your cosmic title and nothing else. But she does love the book, and we talked about it considerably. I love it too. If Cally influenced me in other ways, well, what can a poor besotted man living with an Ozzie Sappho be expected to do????? The muse is the muse is the muse... Dave |
Warmest congratulations, Aaron.
|
Dave, I loved being called "a pussycat poet"; in fact, I loved the whole blurb. As for its authorship, who wrote Shakespeare's plays?
Thank you, Tim. I am looking forward to our Alan panel at West Chester. |

Kittycat, I did! Cally |
Congrats, Aaron.
|
Kindle version? Well, ain't we Hell! Consider me Kindled.
Congratulations, Aaron, Can'r wait to read this. Frank |
It's a great book - and the Kindle version is formatted perfectly, which shows it's possible if a publisher isn't lazy. Bravo Aaron (and Alex).
|
Congratulations!
|
I've just purchased a copy and look forward to its arrival.
(You don't know me, Aaron, but I worship from afar!! :)) Jayne |
Congrats, again, Aaron (post-prize on the other thread!). I love your work.
Charlotte |
Gregory, I am glad to hear that the book looks good in Kindle (and even more glad that you have enjoyed it).
Thanks again, all of you. Charlotte, I have been thinking of the L.A. area and its beaches all week--my whole family is enjoying a week at Huntington Beach, and I am here at my writing desk. Enjoy L.A. for me. |
Ah too bad you couldn't be here too, Aaron. I would offer you tea and biscuits, and a smidgeon of sun.
I'll be in Huntington Beach in a couple of weeks, actually, for a poetry workshop! Charlotte |
|
Congratulations, Aaron! You are the cat's MEOW!
|
Here is the first press for the book--an interview in The High Plains Reader:
Interview http://hpr1.com/feature/article/a_co...on_poochigian/ I'm happy with how it turned out. Thanks for your interest, Aaron |
Good interview, Aaron. Please look me up when you're in Fargo. Feeney and I just bought a house!
|
Wow, a house--I can see it--a porch with a hammock, and a big fenced-in backyard for the Feenster to run around in. Congrats!
|
Great interview, good luck with the book!
|
For you Canadians out there still thinking about getting the book, Amazon Canada now has the book on sale at 28% off. From experience, these sales don't last long, so, get it now -- here -- before they revert to full price.
Cheers, ...Alex |
O Canada, O Canada--I will be up near the border tomorrow. I should slip over and get the discount myself.
Here is a interview with Paulette Tobin about my work. It was in today's Grand Forks Herald: http://www.grandforksherald.com/even...roup/homepage/ I've been lucky with press so far. Hope we can keep it up. |
I'm intrigued--and a little dismayed--that the interview focuses almost entirely on the Aratus, rather than the big news, your first collection of original verse. Dan Mahli is trying to round up the Haney boys for all of us to make a pilgrimage up to the Forks tonight, but somehow, I don't think it's going to happen. It's the twins' birthday, and their girl friends have other designs on them. If we don't make it, how about an exchange of hostages at West Chester?
|
Sounds good. Yes, the theme of the conference is "humanimal", and the Aratus "Phaenomena" has the most animals in it. Don't worry--I am going to promote the hell of my book at the reading tonight. Yes, I look forward to trading up at West Chester.
