"For A Gardener" in Kin

For A Gardener is up at KIN, a favorite poem of mine from my latest book When Men Bow Down.

That's great Nemo and love the book (another one of my favorites is "Sonnet For Bill").

Interesting choice of form, both for limping and sweeping... Congratulations!

I also quite like this e-zine. Great poetry and interviews!

Nemo,

love the opening--and the rest too.

Real nice!

Salute this gentler evolution you have spoken out so well.

Thanks, all. Ironically enough, my obstinate critical defense of this poem (many years ago) was the cause of the first poetic food-fight I ever had here on the Sphere. So take heart ye stand-your-grounders, time heals all wounds, and poems can emerge unscathed from time to time--strengthened by several rounds in the ring.

I am told by the folks at Kin that my audio of the poem will be up sometime in the near future. Stay tuned.

Very well done, Nemo, and thanks for the encouraging words to stand-your-grounders. (The trick, of course, is knowing when, exactly, to stand your ground!)

Best,
Jean

R. Nemo Hill 02-08-2013 11:04 AM

Thanks, Martin, Richard, Jean.

Yes, Jean, the trick is knowing if there is 'ground' to stand on at all...and there's no rule of thumb for that, since one man's ground is another's thin air. Poetry is not a science--but then again, maybe science isn't a science either.
